Inland Mendocino County, the Anderson Valley is one of our favorites. Boonville is known for wine, apple orchards, and having its own secret language (!)

Camp in a state park OR stay at a selection of unassuming luxe hotels with farm-stay energy. Either way, a very good foodie destination. Great proximity to the coast for a day-trip.
